Carolyn hails from West Lafayette, Indiana, where she grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Area-Music Education k-12. Her major instrument was bassoon, with a minor in voice. She taught in the public school systems of Indiana before following her husband to Princeton, New Jersey where she was principal bassoonist with the Westminster Orchestra, and a veterinary technician with an all-cat practice. Once again, following her husband they moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where Carolyn helped to re-instate a band program in an elementary and middle school. After her husband accepted a faculty position at Texas A & M, they moved to College Station. Their two children were born there, and that was where Carolyn was introduced to Kindermusik. Their daughter was born with cerebral palsy, and Carolyn knew the power of music. She attended a KM class with her infant daughter, and was hooked from then on! The instructor approached Carolyn about coming to teach for her. What a blessing! Carolyn taught for 6 years in College Station. Once again, a faculty position to Old Dominion University caused a move, thus taking a break from teaching KM. Now, happily back in Texas, hopefully at SMU for a long time to come, Carolyn is excited to teach Kindermusik again! She looks forward to meeting the wonderful families that love KM as much as she!
